Heaven

Jaxson Nicholas ~ February 7, 2012 ~ 7 lbs 1 oz

"Here is a baby with eyes of blue, straight from heaven, right to you. Or Straight from heaven up above, here is a baby for you to love." ~Mr. Stork

And love him I do!

Immediately. Overpoweringly. Unconditionally.
How is it possible? We just met, after all. It was love at first sight.
Holding him in my arms was like holding a little piece of heaven.
And then, he stole my heart.

L.O.V.E.

Valentines is a day of LOVE
So, I spent it with the a Bug I love

I don't think I could love any one more than I love this little bug.
Baking cookies, painting sun catchers, eating Heart shaped pizza, and
dancing with Micheal Jackson.

A few of our conversations this weekend went like this:

Kaicee: Somie, Jesus died...and so did Micheal Jackson.

Kaicee: Jesus and Micheal Jackson are in a fight.
Me: Why?
Kaicee: Micheal Jackson did drugs so Jesus is mad at him.
Me: No. Jesus is sad, but he loves every body.
Kaicee: No. He hates Micheal Jackson.

While singing along to Lady Antebella's Need You Now...
Me: What does it mean to be drunk?
Kaicee: It means you're really sick.

As much as I wish to keep her my little baby bug Forever, she gets bigger every day. She makes me laugh so hard, and sometimes I just love her so much it makes me cry.

Dear Andrew,

As I opened my eyes this morning I thought of you, just as I do every February 14. I'll never forget walking into your bedroom to find you sitting cock-eyed on you walker with disheveled brown hair from just waking up; looking up at me from behind those Harry Potter glasses with sparkling brown eyes and a smile from ear to ear.

Happy Valentimes Day, Somer.
It is a day of LOVE
and I love you!

I love you, too, Andrew. Thank you for bringing such goodness and joy into my life. Knowing and loving you made me a better person.

Love Always,
Somer

Love...Love...Love...

I'll never celebrate Valentines without thinking of Andrew...I walked into his room at Tiny Tots on Valentine morning to find him sitting on his walker and looking up at me, a GIANT grin on his face.

"Happy Valentimes Day Somer!
It is a day of Love...And I love you!"

This Valentines day....
...We got a surprise visitor....

It definitely made our day!
Thanks Fellas!

What A Girl Wants

I want to get married here

In the fall when the leaves are changing...and I want to wear colored shoes.

I want to marry someone who is my best friend.

I want someone who will hold my hand as we walk into Sacrament meeting.

I want someone to study the scriptures with...to share insights, thoughts and feelings on the wonderful gospel of Jesus Christ.

I want to kneel down at night next to the love of my life as we thank our Father for the gifts and blessings of the day.

I want someone who will use his priesthood to bless my life and the lives of our children.

Basically, I won't settle for anything less than my very own fairy tale.

Pride can stand a thousand trials
The strong will never fall
But watching stars without you
My soul cries

Baby Love

My first day at
Primary Children's Medical Center
I gave a 22 day-old-baby
his first bottle.

I sang him lullabies and cried.

I dreamt of you again.

When I woke, my skin burned and
my heart ached.

I thought I'd purged the memory of you.

I hate that I still miss you.

Puppy Love

I've always considered myself to be someone that dealt well with death. I started working in geriatrics as a 16 year old. I've held the hands of people I loved while they crossed the veil, comforted families...I've even spoken at funerals. However, none of those experiences prepared me for loosing Wickett. We found out at the end of June that Wickett's kidney's were shutting down. When you hear news like that about a person, you immediately think, "What can we do? What tests can we run? Spare no expense!" When you hear it about your puppy, you think the same things...but it's a DOG. There was nothing to be done. So, we waited as long as we could before accepting the inevitable action of putting Wickett to sleep. I was surprised at how quickly he went to "sleep"...pretty much as fast as the injection was given it took effect. Mom and I cried and cried. I held him the whole ride home. When we got there, I laid him on the floor so Wookie could see him. I don't think he understood it was Wickett. I wrapped him in his blanket with his paws hugging his baby. Mom and I had a little funeral in the back yard. We couldn't help but laugh as we talked while digging the hole in the dirt, wondering what we looked like--two grown women sobbing over a dog, we even made sure he was facing east...laughter through tears always has been my favorite emotion. It's true what they say: Dog truly is man's best friend. Wickett and Wookie listen without judging, interrupting or talking back. They're always happy to see you when you walk in the door. When I had my knee surgery they both never left me alone. My own little watch dogs. They're content to snuggle on the couch and watch a movie or take a Sunday nap. I've decided that the difficulty in Wickett's death was that it was in our hands. With people, they can tell you what they want, what they feel...if they're ready. When people die, I know they have a family waiting to welcome them home on the other side. Wickett just looked at us with his big brown eyes. I believe that we did the right thing. And, when all is said and done, I believe what they say....All Dogs Go To Heaven. I hope my Granddad gave him a treat when he got there.

Notes on Love

Love Notes. I love Love Notes. There's just something validating in receiving those small, brightly colored pieces of paper containing bits of randomness and good cheer. I have every Love Note I've ever gotten. When days are a bit cloudy and it's difficult to see the sun, I randomly pull a Love Note, or sometimes more, from the box and it brightens my day. Here are some of my favorite Love Notes:

Sum Sum ~Can I call you Sum Sum? You're Awesome!
I hope you can love me back!
Somer~ I love your sense of humor, honesty, and faith.

Somer ~ You are such a sweetie pie!! You always make my day! Such a beautiful girl! I really admire you in so many ways. Thank you for always being so happy.
My Somer ~ Thank you darling for everything always. You're the true-bluest friend a girl could ask for! I think you're super great!

Somer~ I chose to write you a note on yellow paper because it is bright, sunny, and cheery, all the characteristics that remind me of who? YOU! I love spending time with you and admire your cheery attitude in life. Just know I think you're "crackalakin!"

Little things make a big difference in our lives. Little are the Love Notes that bring rays of sunshine into not so sunny days.
